Thank you for volunteering for our Celebration of Love events taking place at Fort Hood on December 11-13, 2019.

Please read the important information below.

 

ENTERING FORT HOOD

You must have a military or visitors pass to enter Fort Hood. Visitor passes can be obtained at the Marvin Leath Visitors Center which is located just off Interstate 14 (U.S. Hwy. 190) on T.J Mills Blvd, Building 69012, adjacent to the Fort Hood Main Gate.

 

Please be prepared to provide a current drivers license or government ID, your date of birth and your social security number. Fort Hood will conduct a background check and all visitors are fingerprinted and photographed. Please allow yourself enough time to stop at the Visitors Center to go through the security clearance process.  If you are driving your own personal vehicle into the installation, please also be prepared to show your vehicle's registration and current insurance.

 DIRECTIONS TO HOOD ARMY AIRFIELD

After obtaining a visitor’s pass, please proceed through Fort Hood's main gate and follow the directions and/or signs to Hood Army Airfield, Murphy Loop, Hangar Building #6978.

 

PARKING

Volunteer parking is available in front of the hangar building.  Once inside please check in at Celebration of Love's Volunteer Office. 

ATTIRE

Volunteer t-shirts will be provided, but please dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes. You may want to bring a jacket, particularly on Friday evening as it can sometimes get cool inside the hangar. 

VOLUNTEER DATES, HOURS AND WHAT TO BRING

Event: Bike Assembly

Date: Wednesday Dec. 11, 2019

Time: 10:00 am

Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

If you have signed up to assemble bicycles, please bring as many of the following tools as possible. Please mark your personal tools so you can identify your property. There will be staff to help guide you on assembly and to check quality control. It’s important that the bikes be assembled correctly. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance.

Event: Toy Sorting

Date Thursday Dec. 12, 2019

Time: 10:00 am

Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

If you have signed up to sort toys, please note we will be dividing thousands of toys into age and gender categories. The toys will then be bagged and marked with a voucher number for distribution on Friday evening.

Event: Christmas For The Troops

Date: Friday Dec. 13, 2019

Time: 4:00 pm (Volunteers) 6:00 pm (Doors Open)

Food will be provided for all volunteers and attendees.

On Friday evening we will need as many volunteers as possible to help with toy bag and bike distribution. Hundreds of military families will come through for an evening of food, music and Christmas fun.  Volunteers will be needed for various stations.

We ask that all volunteers arrive no later than 4:00pm. Doors open for the military families at 6:00pm. Please check in at the Celebration of Love Volunteer Office for assignments (unless you already have a work station). The event should conclude at approximately 9:00pm.
